2002 Work

Wow. Flowers have taken over my image-making. More and more I find the limited use of the figure, with the unlimited use of the flower. Seems that this form can contain the emotional content I need illuminated!

As one can see, the following images have largely been executed in pairs, or as a diptych. The first set was done in March, the second set are two images of a series of 12 (click on image to see additional images) that were done over April/May, the third set was done in June, and the final set was done August 23, 2002. Although it is difficult to tell the relative size of all the images, the final set is 7.5 ft x 3 ft. Quite large, and somewhat overwhelming, even for me.

Where is this all going? Unclear. I still stand by my conviction that the creation of art is a humanitarian effort, helping to uplift the human spirit. And, I firmly believe that I am still tapping into the undertow of chaos in our society. An undertow that is pervasive and unspoken, affecting us all on many levels, but not reinforced in our current-day images. Walk around and look at what is being shown to us, and then try to understand the conflict between what we see and what we feel. Imagine seeing images like those below instead of sales pitches of how we SHOULD feel, how we SHOULD look, how we SHOULD LIVE. Imagine everybody creating and seeing there own REAL reality, not afflicted by the barrage of commercial images.
