2000 Work

The year 2000 started as a difficult year. I suffered some grave losses in early January, when the weather is quite cold, and I have trouble being inspired anyhow. Nevertheless, some great developments progressed - especially the series to the right, April 2000 Series. I was struggling with a variety of developments, one of them being the position
of the mouth. Through a series of small, forced drawings (not seen here) I found myself very tired of the old figurative structure, and I was clearly yearning for something else. The successful result is the April 2000 Series,
with the mouth being almost completely obliterated, the progression of the hands
to spinning paws and the expression of
true sadness in the eyes.

I continued to push through these new developments, eventually losing the spinning paws and modifying the eyes. Most of these decisions can be seen here, as well as throughout the 2001 ARRRT work. What I love most about art, or at least my art, is how it is a record of history as seen through the images that are made. My work, for me, functions as a type of visual diary, where emotional position is clearly illuminated.
